Skepta expressed his belief that a head-to-head rap battle between artists from both sides of the Atlantic could finally settle the long-standing rivalry.
“I wanna clash an American rapper anyway, finally get this UK/US rap debate sorted,” the Grime icon posted on Thursday via his X (formerly Twitter) account.
Taking things further, Skepta proposed a lineup of UK vs. US matchups, including Ghetts vs. Eminem, Chip vs. Kendrick Lamar, Dave vs. Lil Wayne, Youngs vs. Meek Mill, and Blade Brown vs. Pusha T.
He didn’t stop there—he also suggested Queenie take on Megan Thee Stallion, Central Cee face Jack Harlow, Lancey go up against Travis Scott, and JME battle Tyler, The Creator.
Skepta emphasized the rigorous lyrical training that comes from being part of the UK’s Grime scene, asserting that British rappers are highly skilled and far from easy opponents.
“The microphone training you get from being in the grime scene is top level—Oxford Uni level training. We’re not easy, lol,” he added.
